Conkers Railway, Sunday 17th March 2013

After the Great Central Railway fixture, 30 participants then proceeded to the 2 foot gauge dumbbell layout minor railway at “Conkers” in the heart of the National Forest, to enjoy a ride behind steam outline Severn Lamb 8204 4w-4wDH (2011) “Conkachoo Two” hauling three covered “toast rack” bogie coaches.  Multiple trips were provided to ensure overlap, with the “on the day bonus” of a reversal of the service on to the stock storage siding near Discovery Centre enjoyed by many members.  The friendly railway staff were able to provide the opportunity to photograph the train including the less frequently used “Conkachoo” locomotive, which typically appears as an additional resource for seasonal events such as Santa specials.
